Introduction

Mr. President, Commander, members, and comrades of the Hingham Historical Society and friends.  I have been invited to come here this evening to give a sketch of the area known for the past thirty five years as Ward Four.  This portion of Quincy was known to out forefathers as the Furnace Land, and later as the Woods District or West Quincy.
